The legacy of the student protests at the end of 2019 was a concerted effort by the administration to partner with parents, teachers and students to assess the culture and climate at the high school to provide direction for the future. As a member of the Culture and Climate Committee, I have worked to examine these issues in depth.
The dire economic conditions ahead require us to make smart financial decisions that protect our ability to serve all students. Issues such as the annual budget and fees require thoughtful evaluations of trade-offs and a willingness to listen to all sides.
The initial response to the COVID-19 school closing was often confusing and underscored the need to improve communication with families as well as design and implement an online learning program that meets the needs of all students.
