Julie Rowe joined the School Committee in 2020 with high energy, aiming for high engagement and high impact. She has consistently advocated and fought for strong academic expectations for all students, ongoing maintenance of our buildings, and addressing issues in our special education programs.
- Successfully advocated for budget for new elementary literacy curriculum
- Successfully fought de-leveling classes at SHS
- Pushed for leveled math instruction at SMS
- Supported an increased variety of AP classes, and to possibly allow freshmen and sophomores to take certain classes. Opposed efforts to eliminate AP classes.
- Actively interested in academic “scaffolding” to bolster the performance of students most in need of help
- Successfully called for administrative help for special education team, which would take over paperwork and free up the time for our experts to perform their core mission
- Developed budget calendar template adopted by administration and colleagues
